Some may say that visiting Boston in the middle of the winter would be a bit of a toss up considering the cold weather, but things worked out perfectly for these Texas girls. Despite paying this historic city a visit in mid February, the weather for the majority of the trip could be described as mildly chilly at worst – at times when the sun was out, we even took our jackets off while exploring the city on foot.
This was my first trip to Boston, and I was really excited to see the city. It had been on my bucket list of cities to visit in the States for the longest time. This was the ultimate girls trip, reuniting with my friends that I met while studying abroad in college – one being a Boston local. With all five of us tucked into Madison’s quaint Beacon Hill apartment (along with her roommates and two cats), it was a weekend with amazing memories that I think of fondly.
Our first activity on our first full day of the trip was walking around historic Beacon Hill. With cobblestone roads and gorgeous residences, some of which have been around since the mid 1700s, it truly felt magical. Not far of a walk away, Boston Commons is a must see as well. It’s a great spot for a leisurely stroll or to people watch.
We made a stop at the Samuel Adams Brewery (because why not?), and definitely strolled through a few of the many cemeteries around the city. We even visited Paul Revere’s headstone.
We also went and sat by Boston Harbor for a few peaceful minutes before grabbing a bite to eat at Legal Seafood. Cannolis were also on the agenda, so we headed over to the North End and made a stop at Modern Pastry.
Later on during the trip, we paid a visit to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. I highly recommend a visit to this unique museum if you’re ever in Boston. Lastly, we had reservations at Contessa for brunch on our last day which was phenomenal food with stunning views over the city — make sure you make a reservation well in advance if you’re interested in adding this to your Boston itinerary.
It was the best girls trip I could have asked for. See y’all in 2024!
